As the largest women’s fraternity, Chi Omega
provides countless opportunities for fun and friendship during college
and beyond. As a Chi Omega, you will have fun, grow, thrive, achieve
success, and flourish!
“Sincere Learning and Creditable Scholarship” is one of Chi Omega’s
six purposes and has been a constant in the history of our Fraternity.
Chi Omega wants our members – collegiate and alumnae - to be well
rounded, educated women. The balance introduced with this purpose
requires each member to be a student and a Chi Omega.
To help maintain balance between learning and activities, Chi Omega
provides many tools to assist members as they reach and exceed their
academic excellence. Some of the resources include:
- The Chi Omega Policy on Scholarship
- Support to reach personal academic success
- People resources through the chapters’ vice president in charge of
scholarship, Scholarship Cardinal Cabinet Team, Scholarship Advisor,
chapter members
- The Chi Omega Daily Planner and Membership Notebook
- The Eleusis
- Worksheets and academic tools from the ww2.chiomega.com/everyday resources
- Scholarships for collegians and alumnae sponsored by the Chi Omega Foundation
Jan Blackwell, Archivist Emeritus said, “Chi Omegas are remarkable.
You are resourceful and eager to learn, anxious to share your ideas and
successes. That power only comes from discipline and responsibility.
The choice is entirely up to you.” The message of “personal
responsibility” cannot be stated too often. It is up to you to
determine the ways you manage your time and how you pursue your
academic journey. Remember to choose wisely!
As Chi Omegas, it is important to remain committed to scholarship
and lifelong learning. For our college years, Chi Omega recognizes that
its members and new members are students first. That is why grades must
be demonstrated before initiation — one must be able to be successful
as a student and fulfill the expectations of membership. If one cannot
make a 2.0 GPA as a full-time student while participating in Chi Omega,
then it is only fair that she separate from Chi Omega to concentrate on
classes. The focus on academics should not end after graduation. Chi
Omega programming strives to instill in each member the love of
learning.
Chi Omega places a priority on academic success and more
importantly, academic challenge, for each member. Be proud of Chi Omega
and exemplify the best of this wonderful organization in your thoughts,
words, and actions. Be the best you can be! Accept the responsibilities
of Chi Omega membership; embrace Chi Omega’s six purposes and place our
values into action; and enjoy one another as Sisters and as friends.
